PM WANI stands for PRIME MINISTER Wi-Fi ACCESS NETWORK INTERFACE. Basically P.M.-Wani [फ्री वाई-फाई] Free Wifi Registration for Internet access of 5-20 Minutes. इसलिए सरकार देश के नागरिकों को वाई-फाई की सुविधा उपलब्ध करवाने जा रही हैं। इस योजना के माध्यम से सभी सार्वजनिक स्थानों पर वाई-फाई की सुविधा मुहैया करवाई जायेंगी। What is PM Wani? Objective of PM Wani Yojana
Our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi started a free wi-fi scheme during the cabinet meeting , under the PM WANI Scheme government provided free wifi to our small shopkeepers to increase their income and financial structure. through this scheme, youth will get seamless internet connectivity. This wifi scheme will also boost the digital India plan which we have started before. wifi connectivity will significantly improve across the country that will make a direct impact on our lifestyle. According to the information the central government will establish around one crore data centers across to make this scheme strengthen.
The Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved the proposal of Department of Telecom (DoT) to proliferate Broadband through Public Wi-Fi networks under the framework of the Prime Minister’s Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) on 9th December 2020.
Importance of PM-WANI Framework
"To facilitate ease of doing business and encourage local shops and small establishments to become Wi-Fi providers, it has been approved that the last-mile Public Wi-Fi providers require no license, no registration and will not need to pay any fees to DoT." The hotspots will help the education and health facilities to overcome their problems. The hotspots will also make the facility of the internet available to the people who can’t afford to get one.
How to access broadband on PM-WANI Wi-Fi?
The potential user who wants to access Broadband through Public Wi-Fi will need to download the relevant App, get authenticated, and thereafter access Broadband at any Public Wi-Fi Hotspot.
There will be no licence fee or registration fee for it and businesses can take services from any ISP and use their physical location to provide WiFi. WiFi hotspots at stores, local shops, cafés and many such public places across the country can be set up.

PDO
Public Data Office will establish, maintain, and operate PM-WANI compliant Wi-Fi Hotspots and provide last-mile connectivity to deliver Broadband services to subscribers by procuring internet bandwidth from telecom service providers and/ or internet service providers.

PDOA
Public Data Office Aggregator will provide aggregation services such as authorization and accounting to PDOs, thereby facilitating PDOs in providing services to the end consumer.

App Provider
App Provider will develop an Application to register users and discover and display PM-WANI compliant Wi-Fi Hotspots in the proximity for accessing the internet service and also authenticate the potential Broadband users.

Central Registry
Central Registry will maintain the details of App Providers, PDOAs, and PDOs. It is currently maintained by the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT).
- The PDOA will register PDO Wi-Fi Access Points along with SSIDs and locations.
- PDOA will authorize users based on the requests.
- Create tariff for subscribers and manage usage of each subscriber.
- All complaints of users will be addressed/ handled by the PDOA.
- Payment gateway integrated with PDOA captive portal for online payment transaction.
- Multiple PDOAs can enter into roaming agreement for enabling their subscribers uninterrupted WiFi Access.

How to access broadband on PM-WANI Wi-Fi?
User who wants to access Broadband through Public Wi-Fi will need to download the relevant App,or through browser not neccessary to download any app ( For download app still need Internet connection When user want to connect internet first time then how download software for that reason user can browse or connect direct internet), get authenticated, and thereafter access Broadband at any Public Wi-Fi Hotspot.
When the user reaches a Public Wi-Fi Hotspot, the App on the mobile phone will show various available networks. The user can then choose the Public Wi-Fi network of choice, pay an amount – either online or through voucher – and use the network till the balance is exhausted.
